Fire
Fire testing has been carried out in the UK by BRE and standard wall mix cast material haspassed with a Fire Rating of 1 hr BS EN 1365-1:1999.
An unloaded test sample of 300mm thick standard mix cast Tradical® Hemcrete® survived temperatures of around 1000 degC as one wall of a kiln with the outer surface remaining below 70 deg C for a period in excess of three hours until the test was halted.
The CSTB in France
has tested 300mm thick walls made of Tradical® Hemcrete® blocks laid in lime mortar, with no plaster or
render, showing that the wall remained intact
for 1hr and 40 minutes. The Tradical® Hemcrete® blocks
did not fail after this time, but the mortar joints
did.
